Education
Education
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation and Human Services from Penn State University, and a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Immaculata University.
I am a National Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor.
I am licensed to provide mental health counseling in the state of Pennsylvania.
Clinical Experience
I have worked in a variety of mental health settings, including Intensive Behavioral Health Services, Juvenile Justice Services, and Outpatient Services.
I provide psychotherapy to adolescent and adult populations, struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, adjustment disorders, bipolar disorder and relational difficulties.
There is nothing more important to me than the rapport I have with my clients. While I integrate techniques from various theories based on specific client needs, I practice from a client-centered approach, in which I work to actively support and empower my clients in their healing.
This allows my clients to begin feeling confident, strong, and secure. As a result, they start to see positive changes happen in their lives. Their relationships, friendships, health, finances, and work/school performance can begin to improve.
Athlete Experience
I have always been a competitor at heart, from playing multiple sports growing up at the highest club levels, to playing Division I soccer at the collegiate level. I have experienced the many stressors and mental health challenges that come with being an athlete, and therefore have a special interest in working with the athlete community.
I can relate with my clients because of these experiences and struggles, which gives my clients a better sense of connection. My clients find that the way I combine my personal experience with my professional expertise oftentimes plays a key role in their success.
I look forward to working with you,
Katie Ryan, LPC, NCC
